Solu Medrol dosing for patients with spinal cord injury

Patient's weight:
 kg

mg of Solu Medrol bolus
mg of Solu Medrol per hour 
beginning 1 hour after first infusion

The formula for this calculating body surface area is:

bullet30 mg/kg over 1st 15 minutes
bulletpause 45 minutes
bullet5.4 mg/kg/hr over next 23 hours (see note below)

Should the infusion be delayed at any time, the dose should be re-calculated to catch up.  For example, if the infusion is stopped for one hour, double the dosage for the following hour.

NOTE:  The infusion must be started within 8 hours to be beneficial.  If started within the first 3 hours, the infusion should continue for 23 hours after the initial bolus.  If started between hours 3 and 8, the infusion should continue for 47 hours after the initial bolus.
